Wanna go Shwopping??
After racking up some great success the last time around, Wellington’s Big Shwop returns to the capital for a spring 2009 showing. This version of the Shwop will be held within the wide-open spaces of the St James Theatre on October 31.
The idea behind the Shwop is so simplistic that even a vodka-soaked and starving Russian model could do it (But not much else). Between 10am & 12pm people bring in their unwanted, barely worn, quality clothing and exchange them for vouchers. When the Shwop begins at 1pm you can cash in your vouchers for any of the fine fashion on offer. Told you it was simple!
There are a few rules involved though. Things to be Shwopped include good quality clothing, hats and scarves, and bags and shoes. Things NOT to be shwopped include POOR quality clothing, jewellery and underwear or swimwear.
The big Shwop is a great way to combine fashion, bargain-hunting and a greater sense of community. Don’t be surprised if you bump into an old friend while shopping for an essential item, or make new ones whilst in the middle of making a purchase.
