Hashigo Zake stepping up after Vintage closure

Written By: admin on September 7, 2009 No Comment

Another new bar opening in downtown Welly?  Who said there’s a recession… liars!

Hashigo Zake has just opened in the old Vintage premises on Taranaki Street.  This fledgling purveyor of fine alcohol specialises in the fast growing, craft beer movement.  It stocks most of New Zealand’s finest drops, and is importing some great craft beers, from breweries located in many unlikely corners of the world.

Brews on tap include  Emerson’s Pilsner , Epic Pale Ale, Renaissance Elemental Porter, Hofbrau Weissbier, Harringtons Monsoon, Three Boys IPA, Emerson’s Bookbinder and Mussel Inn Captain Cooker.

Waiting in the storeroom are Three Boys Pils, Three Boys Wheat and Renaissance Stonecutter.  Hashigo Zake were proud sponsors of this years Beervana festival, and have had the brewers for all those great beverages through their doors.

Hashigo Zake literally translates as ‘liquor ladder”, an apt metaphor for the experience of stepping from one unique tasting, flavour filled beer, to the next.
